Personnel, families and Defence Civilian Staff of the 3rd Battalion of Infantry (3Bn) have celebrated the annual West African Soldiers’ Social Activities (WASSA) at Liberation Barracks, Sunyani on Friday 24 January 2025.
The Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Kofi Akoto Appau, in his welcome address, described the annual event as a day the Ghana Armed Forces has set for personnel, along with their families and friends to celebrate the grace of God for guiding them.

According to him, the event signified the celebration of happy moments and offered the platform to reflect on achievements, blessings and challenges, especially in the area of operations, administration, and logistics.

The special Guest of Honour the Director Social Performance, Newmont Africa, Mr Joseph Danso said, he monitored the activities of the Unit within the 3 Regions, especially the Ahafo Region and applauded the personnel for their dedication, commitment and sacrifice. He congratulated the Unit for ensuring greater dominance and success in their area of responsibility which has been of immense benefit to Newmont Ghana, leading to the establishment of Forward Operating Bases in Sankore and Kenyase to ensure peace and security in the Ahafo Region.
