WNC NAVAL WIVES’ ASSOCIATION HOLDS END-OF-YEAR CHILDREN’S PARTY

The Naval Wives Association (NAWA) of the Western Naval Command (WNC) has hosted its annual end-of-year Children’s Party at the Harry Seshie Drill Square, Sekondi Naval Base, on Friday, 5 December 2025.

The event was held under the theme “Joy, Friendship, and a Bright Future,” reflecting NAWA’s commitment to nurturing healthy, confident, and hopeful children within the naval community.

The NAWA Coordinator and wife of the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, Mrs. Selina Ayelazono, in her welcome remarks, expressed gratitude to all dignitaries and families for their commitment to fostering a strong, united community. She emphasised that the day was dedicated entirely to celebrating children, their joy, friendships and promising future.

Delivering her address as Guest of Honour, the NAWA President and wife of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Mrs. Gifty Bessing, highlighted the significance of the theme, noting that children were the heartbeat of every family and represented the nation’s future leaders, innovators, and responsible citizens.

She praised NAWA for creating an uplifting and nurturing environment where children could learn, play, and grow. She also expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, for his unwavering support in making the event a success.

Mrs. Bessing further commended parents and guardians for their dedication to raising disciplined and confident children despite the unique challenges of military life. She encouraged them to continue instilling values that prepare their children for a brighter future.

The celebration featured a variety of activities, including games, performances, musical chairs, face painting, sack races, lime-and-spoon races, bottle filling, and bouncing castles, ensuring a memorable day for the children. Food, drinks, and gifts further energized the atmosphere, transforming the drill square into a lively carnival of excitement.

Awards were presented to children who excelled in the various fun games.
The colourful celebration was attended by the Flag Officer Commanding, Naval Logistics Command, Commodore Eric Osei; the Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono; the Flag Officer Fleet, Naval Captain John Bekuin-Wurapa; Senior Officers, Officers, Command Coxswains, Ratings, Defence Civilian Staff, members of NAWA, and parents.
