Ghanaian Battalion 13 (GHANBATT 13) serving the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has on Tuesday 11 November 2025 observed the 80th Remembrance Day at the Headquarters in Bentiu.
As part of the ceremony, wreaths were laid in honour of all who lost their lives during World War I and II, followed by the sounding of a siren to signify the signing of the Armistice, and observance of a two-minute silence in memory of all uniformed personnel who served at the peril of their lives.
The Guest of Honour, Head of Field Office Mr Sam Muhumure laid a wreath on behalf on the government and the people of South Sudan. The Sector Commander GHANBATT 13 Brigadier General Zewdu Endris Yimer laid another on behalf of peacekeepers and security personnel globally while Ghana Formed Police Unit 1 rotation 9 contingent Commander Chief Superintendent Bismarck Achaab laid one on behalf of fallen heroes and veterans.
The parade contingents were drawn from the Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT), Ghana Formed Police Unit (GHFPU), Mongolian Battalion (MONBATT), and the Pakistan Military Engineer Task Force (PAKMETF).
