The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has held a Mission Accomplishment Parade to welcome home troops of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT) 12 at the 5 Infantry Battalion Square, Burma Camp, on Wednesday 10 December 2025.
The Reviewing Officer and Chief Coordinator at the National Defence University, Brigadier General Emmanuel Opare Nyante, on behalf of the Chief of the Army Staff, commended the troops for a successful tour of duty. He lauded their operational resilience and conduct, which he said significantly contributed to the overall success of the mission.
Brigadier General Nyante announced that after the troops’ disembarkation and subsequent period of rest, some personnel would be deployed for internal operations. He emphasised continued professionalism and excellence during the upcoming duties.
He also informed the troops of recent changes within the hierarchy of GAF and urged them to serve loyally while upholding the constitution. Brigadier General Nyante further advised personnel to exercise financial discipline and avoid unnecessary expenditure.
The ceremony featured the presentation of a citation to the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Godfred Asampong, in recognition of the distinguished service of the battalion and expressed profound gratitude to all personnel of UNMISS GHANBATT 12 for their dedication and sacrifice.
