The Deputy Defence Minister, Honourable Ernest Brogya Genfi, has concluded his commiserative visits to the families of the El Wak recruitment victims on Friday, 14 November 2025.
The visit was to offer government's condolences and assure families of an unflinching support towards the burial and honour of the 6 victims.
Addressing the families, Hon Brogya Genfi conveyed the President's sympathies and expressed the ministry’s readiness to assist the bereaved families in honouring the deceased with a befitting burial. A firm assurance was given to the families that such tragedies would be a thing of the past, and the findings of ongoing investigations will guide future recruitment exercises.
Hon Genfi further announced the government's directive for the grieving families to find suitable candidates to be recruited into the Armed Forces in place of the dead potential recruits, adding that "all injured applicants will be automatically recruited once they are medically certified fit."
The delegation, made up of the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection in Ghana, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Acting Director General of Public Relations Captain (Ghana Navy) Veronica Adzo Arhin, and Senior Military Officers, presented the families with a token towards the burial of the 6 potential recruits.
