The 48 Engineer Regiment at Teshie has commissioned the SAPPERS Sports Complex recreational facility during its pre–West African Security Services Association (WASSA) fun games held on Tuesday 16 December 2025.
The facility which comprised an AstroTurf pitch, a basketball court and a volleyball arena was commissioned by Brigadier General Christopher Kwadwo Gyasensir (Rtd) who was the Guest of Honour for the event.
Speaking at the commissioning, Brigadier General Gyasensir lauded the leadership of the 48 Engineer Regiment for coming up with the recreational facility, describing it as a vital asset for promoting health and wellness within the Engineer Corps.
The Commanding Officer (CO) of the 48 Engineer Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Frank Osei Amponsah, noted that the complex represented a symbol of vision and resilience.
He expressed gratitude to the stakeholders, particularly the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Richard Kwadwo Kinney and Chinese investors for their support.
Lt Col Amponsah also revealed plans for the construction of a swimming pool at the complex to enhance the training of personnel for critical disaster-relief operations.
