The Director of Communications, Col Matthew Essien has commended the Signal Wives Association (SWA) for their contributions towards the development of the Unit.
Col Matthew Essien made the commendation at a Food Bazaar held by the SWA at the Nicholson Sports Stadium on Friday, 7 December 2018.
He indicated that the initiative was a shared vision between SWA and the Unit adding that the event over the years had created the grounds for merrymaking and socialization amongst families.
“In the fast-paced urban lifestyle today, there is often limited time for maintaining relationships and keeping up with our colleagues but a programme of this nature creates the avenue for it”, he said.
He recognized the tireless efforts of the women and their contribution towards the general welfare of the Unit and urged personnel to work hard in eliminating barriers that impeded the development of women and the girl child especially in areas such as education, health and skills development.
The Commanding Officer (CO), Defence Signal Regiment, Lt Col Mustapha Abass also commended the SWA for their hard work, commitment and the good role they play towards the development of the Unit.
The President of the SWA also doubles as the first lady of the Unit, Mrs Christiana Mustapha encouraged the women to portray their God-given talents to help make the society a better place to stay.
