UNMISS FORCE COMMANDER COMMENDS GHANBATT 11 PERSONNEL FOR PROFESSIONALISM

Force Commander (FC) of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Mohan Subramanian has on Tuesday 23 July 2024, commended personnel of Ghana Battalion 11 (Ghanbatt 11) for their professionalism.

In view of that, a citation revealing the unwavering commitment of Ghanbatt 11 in achieving its mandate in Sector Unity was presented to the Commanding Officer. Additionally, 50 personnel of the Ghanbatt were recognised for their outstanding services and professionalism in the pursuit of peace in South Sudan at a ceremony organised at UNMISS Bentiu Field Office Camp.

GHANBATT 11 in achieving its mission, dominated its assigned area of operational responsibility with robust patrols, engagement activities and escort duties with exemplified standards of professionalism.

The GHANBATT conducted Short Duration Patrols, Long Duration Patrols, protection duties, Dynamic Air Patrols, Buffer Zone Patrols and IDP Camp Integrated Patrols. It also ensured effective training activities and enhanced its operational capabilities.

GHANBATT 11 supported the Sector Headquarters with other major engineering tasks such as the construction of Observation Posts, installation of streetlights and improvement of perimeter fencing within the UNMISS Camp in Bentiu. With the devastating history of flooding in Sector Unity, GHANBATT 11 also supports immensely as part of Sector Headquarters preemptive measures in preventing dyke breaches.
