The Ghana Armed Forces has taken delivery of 8 Toyota Land-Cruiser Ambulances from the United Kingdom Government on Thursday, 7 December 2023 at the Forecourt of the Officers Command Mess, Burma Camp.UK Minister for Armed Forces, Rt Hon James Heappey presented the vehicles to GAF, said the gesture aims at handling shared challenges like Sahel extremism, maritime security, as well as joint training programmes. He added that the ambulances were equipped with advanced technology to aid GAF medical outreach in the 5 Northern Regions as part of the UK-Ghana Civilian Military Cooperation Programme. “We are proud to contribute to Ghana Armed Forces capacity to protect and serve its civilians in the 5 Northern Regions to counter violent extremism, and we will continue to foster long-lasting partnerships through our annual security dialogue” he added.Chief of the Defence Staff (CSD), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, expressed gratitude to the UK Government for their generosity and thoughtfulness. He described the donation as timely since GAF and other stakeholders are preparing for counter-terrorism operations in the Northern part of the country. CDS emphasised that the donation would significantly aid Ghana's counter-terrorism efforts, support medical evacuation plans and non-kinetic operations, assuring the benefactors that the vehicles would be used for its intended purposes and placed under good maintenance culture.
