LT COL OSAE ASSUMES COMMAND

Command changes hand at 2 Infantry Battalion

Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Edmund Nana Nyarko Osae has assumed command as the Commanding Officer of the 2 Infantry Battalion, Myohaung Barracks, Apremdo, Takoradi, on Friday 27 September 2024.

He took over from Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Atobrah Bondah during a handing and taking over ceremony presided over by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command, Brigadier General Samuel Yeboah Asare, who served as the Guest of Honour.

In his remarks, Brigadier General Samuel Yeboah Asare described the 2 Infantry Battalion as a unique unit with a rich history that extends beyond the borders of Ghana. He also highlighted the unit’s tradition of upholding the core regimental values of the Ghana Armed Forces. The GOC commended the personnel for their professionalism and esprit de corps, which have earned them a prestigious reputation within the Ghana Army and in the Western part of the country.

He congratulated the outgoing Commanding Officer, Lt Col Bondah, for his exemplary leadership, dedication to service, and strong commitment to excellence, which had significantly contributed to the unit's progress.

Brigadier General Asare also emphasised the importance of preserving national peace and urged all personnel to remain apolitical and carry out their duties professionally. He congratulated Lt Col Osae on his new appointment, calling on all officers, soldiers, and Defence Civilian Staff to offer him their full support.

In his farewell speech, Lt Col Bondah thanked God for His divine providence and the Military High Command for the trust placed in him, allowing him to follow in the footsteps of his predecessors. He encouraged the unit to continue adhering to civil control, engaging in training, praying, and acting professionally by staying apolitical. He also expressed his gratitude to the officers, soldiers, Defence Civilian Staff, spouses, and friends of the unit for their support, and urged them to extend even greater support to his successor.

Later in the day, Brigadier General Asare unveiled a new event centre, which includes a swimming pool, named in honour of the outgoing Commanding Officer, Lt Col Daniel Atobrah Bondah.
