UPDF delegation tap Ghana Armed Forces expertise to run Military Academy

Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF) has sent a 3-member delegation led by Director Training and Doctrine, Brigadier General Alfred Twinamatsiko to benchmark the standards of Ghana Military Academy from 15-19 April 2024.

The delegation called on the Chief of Staff (COS), Major General Joseph Prince Osei-Owusu, where he emphasised the need for international cooperation for security and defense enhancement. He highlighted the significance of continuous learning in enhancing military strategies and readiness, and advised the delegation to utilize the visit to achieve their objectives.

Brig Gen Twinamatsiko, expressed gratitude to COS and underscored the importance of learning from Ghana’s Military Academy practices. He was optimistic about future collaboration enhancement.

The delegation later visited Brig Gen Charles Agyemang-Prempeh, Commandant Ghana Military Academy (GMA), to learn about the academy's training methods, facilities, and curriculum, in order to integrate same valuable insights into UPDF Military Academy framework.

At GMA, the delegation participated in leadership and strategic planning lectures and interactive sessions with to assess curriculum, teaching methodologies, and training approach for improvement.

The delegation also visited the Director-General Training at the General Headquarters, Brigadier General Alfred Dzandu-Hedidor who made a presentation on military training strategies and tactics.

The presentation underscored the significance of continuous training and development for a highly skilled military force, emphasizing the need for modern techniques and technologies.

Some Service Training Deputy Directors took turns to brief on post Ghana Military Academy training/career development for officers.
