Intake 4 of the Ghana Military Academy (GMA) climaxed their 60th anniversary celebration with a Thanksgiving Religious Service on Sunday October 31, 2021 at the Officer Cadets’ Mess, Whistler Barracks, Teshie.
The 60th anniversary celebration was under the theme: “For God and Country”.
Commodore Steve Obimpeh, President of the intake association said the association was formed not only to promote the welfare of its members but to also provide financial and logistical support to public institutions. He said the association had provided support to institutions like the 37 Military Hospital, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the Ghana Military Academy.
The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama in his remarks said Intake 4 which comprised of about 200 cadets was a manifestation and implementation of the Ghanaianization policy of the then President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
He said members of Intake 4 had contributed over 30 years of active service to God and Nation, laying the foundation that personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces enjoy today.
“The intake set the pace, blazed the trail and pioneered the establishment of the much respected and admired Ghana Armed Forces”, he continued.
He said the devotion, dedication, sacrifice and commitment of members of the Intake in establishing an independent Armed Force was the reason they would always be honored and hailed by the present generation of officers and men of the Ghana Armed Forces.
As part of the activities to mark the celebration, the group paid a memorial visit to the Ghana Military Academy (GMA) and toured ongoing projet. The group also interacted and imparted professional lessons and life experiences to the officer cadets.
