Navy Wives to Acquire Free Skills Training

The Ghana Navy as part of its sixtieth (60th) anniversary celebration is organising a five-week skills training for wives of personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces at the Junior Rates Mess of the Eastern Naval Command in Tema from 22 July to 23 August 2019.

The aim of the training is to enable wives of personnel acquire some trading skills in order for them to engage in profitable ventures to assist in the upkeep of their families. In all, 300 wives are expected to participate in the skill training, out of that number, 50 each are drawn from the Army and Airforce Wives Association respectively.

In his opening address, the Guest of Honour and Member of Parliament for Tema East, Honourable Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus Glover noted the Ghana Navy has over the years made efforts to equip spouses of military personnel and civilian employees with home management, good parenting and skills in making of Beads, Batik Tye and Dye, Soap, Ice Cream, Bissap and Flower Arrangements.

He disclosed that the total cost of the training which amounted to forty-four thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢44,000.00) had been paid by the Navy, making the training free for participants.

Hon Titus Glover, as part of his itinerary presented a cheque award of two thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢2000) to the Best Female Recruit of Basic Naval Training Course 81, 209569 Ordinary Seaman Andoh Doris.

For his part, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Eastern Naval Command, Commodore James Osei Kontoh appreciated the Naval Wives for their tremendous contributions and enormous support to their spouses. He further encouraged all participants to put in effort and make the best out of the training.
