The Ghanaian Contingent Commander (CONTICO) (UNMISS), Brigadier General Robert Yaw Affram, paid a four-day working visit to the Ghana Independent Infantry Company 3 (GHANCOY 3) from Friday 7 to Monday 10 October 2021 at the Aweil Mango Camp in the Northern Bahr El Ghazal State (NBeG). The visit was to familiarise himself with events happening with the Unit and also congratulate the Unit for a successful completion of its tour of duty in South Sudan.

At a durbar with all ranks on 8 October 2021, the CONTICO commended GHANCOY for showing professionalism, self-discipline and team work to successfully achieve its mandate. After the durbar, he led the GHANCOY CIMIC Team to donate some items to the Production and Investment Department of Aweil Central Prison. The items included garden chairs and tables, roofing sheets, stationery items and assorted crop seeds for farming. The Officer Commanding, Lieutenant Colonel Rafat Awudu, in his remarks stated that the donation was to strengthen the cordial relationship between GHANCOY and the Central Prison in capacity building.

The Director for Production and Investment for the Central Prison, Lieutenant Luka Athain Deng, who received the items on behalf of the Prison, thanked GHANCOY for the numerous support offered to the Aweil township and the NBeG state at large during the tour of duty. He added that, the management and staff of the Prison were full of joy for the kind gesture and commitment shown to them.  He mentioned that, GHANCOY 3 would be forever remembered in South Sudan.

On Sunday 9 October 2021, the CONTICO joined GHANCOY 3 during the End of Tour Non-Denominational Religious Service to thank God for a successful tour of duty in South Sudan.
