Egypt’s Defence Attaché to Nigeria, Colonel Mohamed Darwish Ali Helmy, has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amaoma, on Wednesday 22 September 2021 at Burma Camp, Accra.
The purpose for his visit was to officially introduce himself to the CDS. Colonel Helmy proposed and introduced some courses and training initiatives which both Egypt and Ghana Army can participate to improve their skill.
He mentioned a Memorandum of (MoU) Understanding could be signed between the two countries on the manufacturing and co-production of some weapons, tools and personnel training on how to operate them, and also how both countries could cooperate in fighting illegal migration and terrorism on their borders.
CDS in response expressed gratitude for the many opportunities presented to GAF by the Egyptian Army. He assured him that GAF will take advantage of the opportunity presented to improve on their knowledge and Skills.
He also recalled the strong bilateral relations between Egypt and Ghana since the days of its first president Dr Kwame Nkrumah. He mentioned the several collaborations between the two armies on courses and training participations over the years. He wished Colonel Helmy, a pleasant stay in Ghana.
