The new British High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency (HE) Harriet Clare Thompson has paid a working visit to the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama in his office at Burma Camp on Thursday, 16 September 2021.
The purpose of the visit was to introduce herself to the CDS on her assumption of duty and to strengthen the existing acquaintance with the Military High Command, as well explore matters of mutual interest between Great Britain and Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
In her remarks, HE Thompson who doubles as the Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Togo and Burkina Faso stated that, Ghana’s relationship with the United Kingdom (UK) has been good and was optimistic she will enjoy higher level of cooperation and commitment.
She indicated that the UK government has sponsored some Officers of GAF to participate in courses in the UK in order to have a fair familiarity about the British doctrine and principle which she understood had strengthened the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
Vice Admiral Amoama expressed appreciation to the government of Great Britain for the continued support to GAF.
Present with the CDS were, the Acting Chief of Staff A/COS at the General Headquarters Brigadier General Joseph Prince Osei-Owusu, the Gender Policy Advisor to the CDS, Captain (GN) Veronica Adzo Arhin and Deputy Director General Personnel and Administration, Colonel Kweku Dankwa Hagan.
