Garrison SDA organises Workshop on awareness of terrorism threats

The Garrison Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church, Burma Camp has organised a workshop to sensitise its members on the emerging terrorism threats in churches across the sub-Saharan region on Sunday 7 July 2019.

The workshop saw the coming together of representatives from various SDA churches in the Greater-Accra region.

The Director for Counter Terrorism, Defence Intelligence (DI) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Lt Col Joseph Merdiemah, explained that the various ways perpetrators carry out their acts in churches and other public gatherings with a broader view of the awareness of terrorism.

Lt Col Merdiemah advised participants to have a church security plan in churches so as to check the movements of people at all times cautioning church members to be vigilant and report suspicious deals.  He urged them to share the knowledge they had acquired with their colleagues in their various churches.

The Workshop also had resource personnel drawn from the Ghana Police Service, National Security and Immigration Service who shared their knowledge on the awareness on issues of terrorism.
