Former Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) former Minister for Defence and former Ghana Ambassador to the United States of America (USA) Lt Gen Joseph Henry Smith has donated a Cow to the 37 Military Hospital Mosque on Monday, 19 July 2020 at the premises of the Mosque.
The donation was made on behalf of Lt Gen Smith by the former Ghana Ambassador to Egypt and former Chief Imam of the Ghana Armed Forces, Lt Col Umar Sanda Ahmed (Rtd).
Presenting the cow to the Command of the Hospital, Lt Col Ahmed (Rtd) stated that, the purpose for the donation was to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha with the Muslim Community and also to recognize that there was a mosque within the Formation. He added that the celebration of the festival brings about sharing and that is the spirit of Eid-ul-Adha.
He said Eid-ul Adha means ‘’Festival of Sacrifice’’ and it is a 4-day celebration, which falls on the 10th day of the 12th month of the Islamic lunar calendar, known as Dhu al-Hijjah. Also, the festival is symbolic where Prophet Ibrahim was asked by God to sacrifice his son Ishmael in obedience to him but God provided him with a lamb instead of his son Ishmael.
He expressed satisfaction with the services rendered by the hospital to the country and thanked the Administration of the Hospital for their efforts in the delivery of a good healthcare to the public.
