Ghana Army Sports Team Pays Courtesy Call on CSO

The Ghana Army Sports team has paid a courtesy call on the Chief Staff Officer (CSO) to Brigadier General Charles Agyemang-Prempeh on Tuesday, 13 July 2021 at the Army Headquarters in Burma Camp.

The team was made up of soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey and boxing personnel. Their visit was to express their appreciation to Command for the continue support in sport activities and also make their concerns known. Some of the concerns raised were, the need for sports fund, enlistment of more sports personnel, lack of sport equipment for training and the need for medical team during sporting events.

Brig Gen Agyemang-Prempeh on behalf of the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah in response, expressed his appreciation to the team for their dedication, diligence and hard work which has enabled Ghana Army receive lot of awards. 

He elaborated that, the sport area was an interesting one with benefits, therefore, much concentration would be given to help chalk more success. He assured them that, measures would be put in place to help address their problems and concerns to make them comfortable and well prepared to represent the Ghana Army and build its image.

Brig Gen Agyemang-Prempeh presented an amount of Ghs ¢10,000 to the Director Army Training (DAT), Colonel Bernard Baba Pantoah to support their training and urged them not to hesitate to channel their grievance through the coaches for prompt action to be taken. He was of the view that, being a sport man comes with a natural talent therefore they should exhibit that and become great in the future.

Coach for the Hockey Goal Keepers, WOII Abdallah Amadu on behalf of the team, expressed appreciation to Command for the support and measures that were in place to revive the Army Sports Team.
