ECOWAS Commissioner for Political Affairs & Security calls on CDS

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, General Francis Awagba Behanzin on Thursday, 17 June 2021 paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama at his office in the Command Mess, Burma Camp.

According to Gen Behanzin, the call was to congratulate the CDS on his appointment and to also introduce the new Resident Representative of ECOWAS in Ghana, Ambassador Baba Gana Wakil.

The General who was also in the country for the 86th Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers of ECOWAS said, it would be an honor and privilege to plan and hold a virtual meeting with the CDS to discuss issues on piracy on the Gulf of Guinea in a few months to come.

He lauded Ghana’s efforts in fighting piracy on the Gulf of Guinea and protecting the borders against Extremism activities, adding that the new Ambassador would help to solve ECOWAS related issues in the country.

The CDS on his part welcomed and expressed his gratitude for the General’s call.
