CDS Commissions 15-Unit Young Soldiers Accommodation Block

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama has commissioned a 15- Unit Young Soldiers Accommodation Block on Friday 4 June 2021 at Medo Lines, Burma Camp.

The 15-unit accommodation block was named after some illustrious officers whose diverse contributions to the Ghana Armed Forces is worth emulating. These persons are Major General Adusei Poku (Rtd), Brigadier General RO Sackey (Rtd) and Lt Colonel Otumfuo (Rtd).

 The Special Guest of Honour, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama was grateful to the Commander Support Services Brigade Group, Brigadier General Mathew Essien and the Commanding Officer, Ghana Military Police for the distinct privilege to commission the facility.

The CDS reteirerted that, accommodation challenge in the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) was enormous, hence troops who live outside the barracks could not be easily mobilized in times of emergency.  He acknowledged that the new block will go a long way to ease the accommodation problem to some extent.

He applauded the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major General Thomas Oppong Perpah for the bold initiative to go into a Private Public Partnership to build for soldiers. He urged troops to take good care of the facility.

Present at the programme were Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Oppong Peprah, Director Generals, Senior Officer and Invited Guests.
