A delegation from the family of the Late Lieutenant General Emmanuel Alexander Erskine (Rtd) on Wednesday, 26 May 2021, formally informed the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama of the passing of Lt Gen Erskine (Rtd) at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp.
The family expressed their profound gratitude to the CDS and the Military High Command for the support given them since the demise of the Late General.
The family made an appeal to CDS to accompany the family to the seat of government to officially announce to the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the passing of the late General Erskine.
The CDS stated that, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) considers the death of General Erskine as a mighty oak tree that had fallen and assured the family that the Military High Command would coordinate with the Presidency to give him a befitting burial.
Vice Admiral Amoama described late General Erskine as a Statesman and an embodiment of extreme courage, integrity and an outstanding leader, whose death had shaken the foundations of the country.
Present at the meeting were the Chief of Staff (COS), Major General Nicholas Ando, Director General (DG) Personnel Administration, Air Commodore Michael Kwame Appiah-Agyekum, Director GAF Public Relations, Col Eric Aggrey-Quashie and some Senior Officers.
