The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama has admonished Muslims to uphold love and respect for one another in the spirit of compassion, empathy and care giving.
Vice Admiral Amoama made this remark in a speech read on his behalf by Lieutenant Imam Shaib Toure during the celebration of this year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr festival at the Al-Aziz Mosque on Thursday, 13 May 2021.
He congratulated all Officers, Men, Women and Civilian Employees within the Muslim fraternity of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) for their tenacity and perseverance in observing this all-important religious rite amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
He urged all Muslims to continuously pray for troops in the various peace support theaters for Allah’s protection and guidance. The CDS also entreated them to pray for the souls of all departed colleagues and compatriots and eschew negative tendencies.
The Acting Chief Imam of GAF, Capt Imam Alhassan Mohammed, in a sermon on the theme, “Avoid things that will engender conflict, misunderstanding and unrest” adviced Muslims to sincerely repent and amend their ways in conformity with the teachings of Islam. He added that, tranquility and cooperation could surely engender development.
Present at the ceremony were, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Adams Yakubu, Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal Frank Hanson, Director General Logistics Brig Gen Osei Owusu and Provost Marshal and Chairman of the Al-Aziz Mosque Col Ziblim Ayorrogo.
