Delegation from ECOWAS Standby Force calls on CDS

A 3-Member Delegation from the ECOWAS standby Forces (ESF), led by the COS at the ESF HQ, Maj Gen Usman Yusuf, on Thurdsay 29 April 2021, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp.

The purpose of the visit was to among other things congratulate the CDS on his appointment, explain to him the activities of the ESF and to deepen the cordial relationship between the two institutions in combating the  security threats in the Sub-Region.

Vice Admiral Amoama commended the delegation for the visit and assured them of High Command’s support. He applauded the Government of Germany for their continuous support to the Standby force with the provision of equipment and other logistics.

Major General Usman Yusuf expressed his profound gratitude to the Government of Ghana and the Military High Command for allowing the ESF to keep their logistics in Ghana since its inception.

He commended the Former CDS Lt Gen Obed Boamah Akwa (Rtd) for setting up an office responsible for Gender Policy Advisory. Vice Admiral Seth Amoama on his part said, plans were underway to establish Gender Policy Advisory offices in all military units in Ghana to help in resolving gender related issues.

Present at the ceremony were two representatives from the German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Group namely, Warrant Officer Class one (WO1) Michael Handscombe and Warrant Officer Class one (WO1) Warneke, Chief of Staff at the General Headquarters, Major General PN Andoh, DG Plans, Research and Development (PR&D), Brigadier General RA Gyane, DG International Peace Support Operations Brigadier General  EK Mends, DG Personnel Administration Air Commodore MK Appiah Agyekum and some Senior Officers.
