ATS Organise Intercompany Novices Boxing Competition

A 5-day Intercompany Novices boxing Competition held for Basic Infantry Training Course (BITC) 4/2020 at the Armour Training School (ATS), Sunyani in the Bono Region has come to a successful end on Friday, 23 April 2021.

The intercompany Novices Boxing Competition for recruits formed part of the training requirement.  It is aimed to test the physical fitness, mental endurance and self-defence skills of the recruits.

A thrilling point of the entertaining occasion was a sparring bout performance by retired boxer, Nana Yaw Konadu Yeboah, a one-time 2-division World Champion.  The retired boxer relived his memories as a boxer in a 6 minutes bout with L/Cpl Akakpo, also a professional boxer. Nana Yaw Konadu Yeboah was presented with a citation as an appreciation for his contribution and guidance throughout the rehearsal phase and organization of the boxing event.

The Commanding Officer (CO), 3 Infantry Battalion, Lt Col Yaw Kwarteng who was the Guest of Honour, in his remarks lauded recruits for their spectacular performances and urged them to press on in utmost discipline and high moral till the end of the training period.  He commended the Typhoon Company for emerging the overall best with 106 points.  He further extoled Recruit Quarm Comfort for standing tall as the best female boxer and Recruit Duodu Raphael as best male boxer.
