GAF Personnel Sensitised on AstraZeneca Vaccine

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS), have organised a sensitisation programme on the AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine for personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces, (GAF) on Wednesday April 7, 2021 at Burma Hall, Accra.

The programme sought to educate and broaden the understanding of personnel on the essence of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine which is being administered in the country as a mode of intervention to curb and control the Covid-19 virus.

The education was also aimed at creating awareness of the safeness of the vaccine and to alleviate fear among the citizenry.

Speaking at the programme, Dr Naziru Tanko Mohammed of the Ghana Health Service, mentioned that the vaccine was safe, effective and had undergone the safety checks and certified by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and the appropriate regulatory bodies before it administration.

He urged personnel to take the vaccine to protect themselves from the virus and employed personnel who had been vaccinated to be ambassadors of the vaccine by sharing their experiences. This, he said, would help educate others on the importance and need to take the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine without doubts. He further emphasised that, individuals should continue to adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols.
