The Italian Navy Ship, “ITS Luigi Rizzo” has visited Ghana to collaborate with the country and the countries of the Gulf of Guinea to protect maritime trade routes from pirates.
Addressing the press, the Commanding Officer of the Italian Navy Ship, “ITS Luigi Rizzo”, Commander Dario Castelli on Monday, March 29, 2021 indicated that the Gulf of Guinea has the highest concentration of pirate activities. Adding that the presence and surveillance move in the region is in line with maritime security measures,
Cdr Dario Castelli further indicated that this would deter piracy and human trafficking on the high sea as well as support ally nations in the area of maritime capacity building to contribute to global security.
Cdr Castelli explained that the visit of the ship is also within the framework of developing the defence cooperation between Ghana and Italy.
