The Director Maritime Partnership Programme, US Naval Forces, Europe and Africa Rear Admiral Jeffrey Spivey on Saturday 27 March 2021 called on the Chief of the Defence Staff, (CDS) Vice Admiral Seth Amoama at his office in Burma Camp, Accra.
The CDS expressed his pleasure with the visit which emphasised the strong relationship fostered between the two countries, especially, in relation to the military. He, however, expressed his concern on the issue of piracy in the Gulf of Guinea (GoG) which had the potency of affecting the image of the country thus the need for EX-OBANGAME which Rear Admiral Spivey would be gracing the closing ceremony later in the day.
Rear Admiral Jeffrey Spivey said, his country was willing to cooperate with Ghana to build the capacities of troops. Adding that, the US Naval Force would grant the needed support to build Ghana’s maritime presence in GoG to deter piracy issues.
Rear Admiral Spivey was accompanied by the US Ambassador to Ghana, HE Stephanie Sullivan.
