The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Southern Command of the Ghana Army, Brigadier General Michael Amoah-Ayisi has embarked on a three-day familiarisation tour of the 2 Infantry Battalion (2Bn) and its Area of Operation within the Western and Western North Regions from Wednesday 17 to Friday 19 March 2021.
The tour according to GOC was to familiarise himself with Units under Southern Command and also to enable him get first hand information on operations, administration, welfare and challenges of the Units and Forward Operating Detachments within the Greater Accra, Volta, Oti, Central, Eastern, Western and Western North Regions.
He visited troops deployed at Elubo, Atuabo, Tarkwa, Sefwi-Wiawso, Boako, Enchi, and Yakasi-Apuja among other places in the two Regions.
Brig.Gen Amoah-Ayisi commended the Commanding Officer (CO), Lieutenant Colonel Abass Atuluk and his troops for their commitment in providing security at the Western front of the country despite being faced with challenges.
He also extended his words of commendation to the Police, Immigration, Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority and other Security Services for their collaboration with the military in a bid to achieve a common goal of ensuring security along the Western border.
The GOC assured the CO of Higher Command’s efforts to provide the necessary logistics to enable then carryout their duties more effectively.
GOC was accompanied by the Command Logistics Officer, Colonel Opoku Agyemang and Deputy Command Operations Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Alex Cann.
