A delegation led by the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong, has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama at Burma Camp on Tuesday, 23 March 2021.
The purpose of the visit was to build a mutually beneficial collaboration between the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the University in the areas of expansion of the university’s facilities, academics amongst others.
According to the VC, the University was undertaking some projects and sought to collaborate with Engineers from the Ghana Armed Forces in order to help complete such projects.
The VC also mentioned the introduction of some security related programmes to be run in the school which would be of benefit to military personnel due to the nature of their job. They include; Cyber Security, Forensic Sciences, Marine Engineering and Military Engineering which would help in the career progression of personnel, and also enable them to secure jobs in these areas if they should retire from the service.
Vice Admiral Amoama expressed his appreciation to the University for their effort in seeking to collaborate with GAF, which would benefit both institutions in terms of education and also strengthen their mutual relation. He further stated that, there would be a memorandum of understanding between both parties in enrolling personnel in the University to aid in furthering their education.
Present during the meeting were, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu, Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal Frank Hanson, Chief of Staff (COS), Major Gen Nicholas Peter Andoh at General Headquarters and the Director of Education for the Ghana Armed Forces, Col William Honkou.
