During his interaction with the CDS, Professor Anim elaborated on the relevance of PHC to the military and the country at large. This, he said involves data collection and evaluation which unlocks the country to uncover known and unknown settlements, identify the unemployed and employed, among others. All of which he added are vital in determining the needs of different segment of the population.
According to Professor Anim, the GSS would be embarking on a National Population and Housing Census and therefore required the aid of the Military High Command in terms of Security, transportation of logistics and as well seek the CDS’ permission to conduct such exercise in the barracks.
Rear Admiral Amoama welcomed the delegation and indicated that, PHC was a critical and important exercise for government to know the number of people who were paying taxes especially for government institutions. He applauded GSS for going digital; an initiative he said was commendable amid the COVID-19 pandemic. He assured that the military was always available to support and to ensure a smooth and successful PHC.
