The family of the late former Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Joshua Mahamadu Hamidu has on Thursday 11 February 2021 called on the Acting CDS, Rear Admiral Seth Amoama at his office to officially inform him of the demise of their beloved.
The leader of the delegation, Hajia Zenabu Yakubu, said although the Military High Command might have heard of the death of the former CDS, it was appropriate to officially inform them as custom demands. She added that the family would keep the Military High Command informed on the funeral arrangements when a date is fixed.
The Acting CDS, Rear Admiral Seth Amoama on behalf of the Military High Command and the entire Armed Forces expressed his heartfelt condolence to the family. He described the late General as an astute officer, gentleman and statesman who was very dedicated and committed. Rear Admiral Amoama reminisced on the personal relationship with Lt Gen Hamidu as well as fond memories of his last encounter he had with him.
The delegation together with CDS, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj Gen Thomas Oppong-Peprah, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal Frank Hanson proceeded to sign the book of condolence at the OB Akwa Matambo Mess.
