French Government Confers Award on Lt Col Ernest Nanbigne

The French Government has conferred the French Overseas Medal with the Vermeil distinction on Lieutenant Colonel Ernest Nanbigne on Thursday, 4 February 2021 at the French Embassy at Cantonment in Accra.

The French Overseas Medal is awarded to only French nationals for distinguished performances outside France in the French overseas territories.

Lt Col Nanbigne earned this accolade as a result of the meritorious service he displayed during his deployment as Staff Officer on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) from October 5, 2019 to October 5, 2020, where he served as the Chief Technical Investigations.

According to the French government, “Lt Col Nanbigne provided remarkable services and showed the greatest professionalism in the accomplishment of his mission. This has given the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) a remarkable image, hence, the award.”

The distinguished peacekeeper and excellence award was presented to him by Lt Col Thierry Gelas-Dore, the French Defence Attaché to Ghana under the auspices of the French Minister for Defence.

Lt Col Nanbigne is currently with the Central Command of the Ghana Army as Deputy Commander, Logistics.
