The Veterans Administration, Ghana (VAG) has held an awareness health walk on Saturday 15 June 2019.
The Exercise saw over 500 Men and Women in attendance and aimed at heightening awareness of VAG in order and raise funds for the construction of a clinic at Amasaman for the executive use of veterans, their families and military widows.
The walk started from the VAG Headquarters through the 37 military Hospital and ended at the Executive Fitness Club at East Legon.
In a brief remark, The Acting Executive Director of VAG, Capt Ben Duah (Rtd), noted that the occasion was in honour of retired gallant men who took part in the World Wars and also to celebrate the Senior Veterans and the occasion of Father’s Day.
He noted that they were showcasing VAG through the exercise hence expressed gratitude to the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) for the massive support of the event, including media partners and business organizations who supported.
Participants who took part in the walk were awarded with Medals from the Royal Ex-Service League as a motivation package not only for VAG, but all Veterans Associations of the Commonwealth.
The Programme was also partnered and sponsored by the Multimedia Group Limited, Fidelity Bank, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Samsung and Prudential Life Insurance Ghana among others.
Present at the occasion were GAF Central Band, a Medical team from 37 Military Hospital and Ghana Military Police. Brig Gen Oppong Kyekyeku (Rtd), Maj Gen GK Frimpong (Rtd), Col Akorful, Col Joseph Kumi (Rtd) were in attendance and some retired senior military officers.
