Lt Col Pilot Azure Laid to Rest

The late Lieutenant Colonel Clement Amazaa Pilot Azure (Rtd), has been laid to rest at the new Military Cemetery in Burma Camp on Saturday 15 June 2019.

At the final funeral rites held at the St Catherine Church Burma Camp, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in a tribute, described him as a dynamic and respectful person who depicted a ready to learn attitude and accepted other people’s opinion.

The family of the late Lt Col Pilot Azure described him as a generous father, jovial and a man of principles.
The Chaplain of the St Catherine Church, Rev Fr Lt Anthony CK Kemetse encouraged all present to improve upon their relationship with God admonishing the congregation to repent in this unpredictable times.

The Late Lt Col Azure attended the Afeghera L/A Primary and Middle School in Zuarungu and gained admission at the Navrongo Secondary School (NAVASCO) in 1981. He proceeded to Bawku Secondary School for his A level and entered the Ghana Military Academy (GMA) on 29 October 1987 as part of Regular Career Course (RCC) Intake 29. He commissioned into the Ghana Armed Forces as a Second Lieutenant on 17 September, 1989.

In the dusk of his career, he rose through the ranks from a Lieutenant to Captain and subsequently to Major in the year 2000. In 2002, he was posted to the 2nd Battalion of Infantry (2BN) at Takoradi as a Commanding Officer (CO).
He was later posted to the General Headquarters (GHQ) Resettlement and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel on 26th July, 2013. He was described by the Directorate as a selfless man who had a good sense of humour and punctual to duty irrespective of his ill-health.
The late Lt Col Azure served on several United Nations (UN) Operations in countries such as Sierra Leone, Congo amongst others. He honourably retired on 19 November, 2018.

The funeral service was attended by Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General William Ayamdo, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command, Brigadier General Yeboah Nsiah, Director General/National Protection Directorate of the Ghana Police Service DCOP Patrick Akolgo, Intake Mates, (RCC 29/SSC 28), Old Students of Navrongo NABIA 1981 Group, Senior Officers and some other Retired Officers.

The late Lt Col Clement Amazaa Pilot Azure was survived by his wife, Linda Apoepeeya Sadia and a daughter, Golda Aloobo Amizaa.
Lt Col Azure passed on after a short illness on Wednesday, 10 April 2019.
