GAFCSC Junior Division Course 71 Ends

A closing ceremony has been held for students of Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Junior Division (Jnr Div) Course 71 at the Otu Barracks on Friday 14 June 2019.

The 18 weeks intensive course was made up of fifty two (52) students consisting of forty (40) personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), four (4) from the Nigerian Armed Forces (NAF), two (2) from Botswana Defence Force (BDF), and three from other security services in Ghana.

In his address, the Guest of Honour for the occasion, Brig Gen Adjetey Annan (Rtd), said the knowledge acquired would put them in a good position to manage the multi-dimensional challenges which they were bound to face in their chosen careers.

He further reminded the graduands that successful management of emerging security threats including terrorism and kidnapping and misguided notions of instant wealth through human sacrifices required the combined efforts of the traditional security and law enforcement agencies at the regional and international levels.

For his part, the Deputy Commandant in charge of the Junior Divisions, Brig Gen Mike N Akpatsu congratulated the graduands for their comportment and high level of professionalism exhibited during the course.

Brig Gen Akpatsu noted that, the Jnr Div Course 71 aimed at training selected Officers to perform Staff functions by developing their leadership, analytical and communication skills. He said this year’s course looked at ways at curbing teenage pregnancy and its socio-economic implications on the Central Region in consultation with the Ministry of Local Government.

He was pleased to report that all the students of JCS 71 had successfully attained the required standards and had therefore earned the “Junior Staff Course” (jsc) qualification.
