DPR organises induction orientation for NSS personnel

The Directorate of Public Relations (DPR) has held a two-day induction orientation workshop for the 2020/21 batch of National Service Scheme (NSS) personnel at the Ghana Armed Forces Public Relations Institute from Monday 12 to Tuesday 13 of October, 2020.

The purpose of the orientation was to introduce NSS personnel to the core duties, functions and responsibilities the Directorate performs as well as the mandate of the Ghana Armed Forces GAF as a whole.

The Deputy Director of Information and Press Relations (DDIPR), Commander Michael Larbi spoke extensively on the functions of both DPR and GAF. He also enlightened the NSS personnel on the organogram of DPR, (hierarchy in GAF) as well as their respective roles.

In addition, he emphasised on the need for NSS personnel to acquaint themselves with the GAF rank structure with their equivalents in the three arms of the service.

He stressed on discipline which he said encompasses punctuality, decency in dressing, good interpersonal relationship, submitting assignments on time, good conduct and personal development.

As part of the induction orientation, Warrant Officer Class Two (WO II) Amoah Noel and Sergeant Kotoku Richard elaborated vividly the roles of each of the three arms of the service. Sergeant Kotoku specifically explained how the respective arms of service work hand in hand especially in times of war or state of emergency.

He also emphasised on the importance of being acquainted with the rank structure in order to avoid the unpardonable tendency of either reducing or giving a wrong rank to Officers and Soldiers.
