GAF to Upgrade its Weapon System

The Directorate of Procurement, Research and Development (PR&D) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has organised a presentation and live firing demonstration of arms delivered by Fabryka Broni Incorporated (INC) as part of GAF’s quest to upgrade its weapon system.

The exercise organised on Thursday 30 May 2019 at the PR&D Conference Hall at Burma Camp in Accra saw troops from various Units and Directorates engaged in an educative discourse with the gun manufacturing company on a wide range of modern weapons.

The Director General (DG) PR&D, Brig Gen RA Gyane, said the purpose of the presentation and demonstration was to assess the quality of the arms presented and for GAF to see how best it could incorporate the products into its weapon system.
He noted that as a professional and a disciplined institution, the Ghana Armed Forces could change its current primary weapons only through a policy change.

The Marketing Specialist of Fabryka Broni Inc, Krysztof Koziel took troops through the various rifle systems produced by the company. The arms displayed included the BERYL 5.56x45 mm Assault Rifle, the MINI BERYL5.56x45mm sub-carbine, the M762 BERYL 7.62x39, MSBS7,  the 62N Sniper Rifle, Grenade launcher assault rifle and the subcabinet Grot.

The resource person identified the characteristics of the rifles as durable and reliable with enhanced ergonomics and suitable for all weather conditions. Mr Koziel emphasised that their weapons were designed for the Army, Special Forces and other security services. He introduced the PR-15 RAGUN 9mm pistol, which he said could be used skillfully with either hands.

Participating troops were taken to the Teshie Range for a practical live firing of the weapons.
