An Audit Committee will Enhance Accountability - COS

The Ghana Armed Forces has inaugurated an Audit Committee for the Internal Audit Agency on Thursday, 6 June 2019 at the General Headquarters Conference Hall Burma Camp, Accra.

The Chief of Staff (COS) Maj Gen Thomas Oppong Peprah in his speech during the inauguration stated that, the existence of an Audit Committee would enhance GAF’s financial accountability and reportage. He added that this would also disabuse the minds of people who think GAF’s financial activities were shrouded secrecy.

The Director General (DG) of the Internal Audit Agency, Mr Ransford Adjei led the swearing in of a five-member committee which comprised of representatives from the Ghana Armed Forces and other institutions. They were; Mr Alfred Osei Kwame as Chairman, Mr Thomas Antwi Wilson, Mrs Josephine Geraldo from the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Audit Agency respectively. Others were Brigadier General AK Adu from the Inspector General Department (IGD) and Group Captain GK Arko-Dadzi from the office of the Chief of Staff.  

The Director General urged the newly inaugurated committee to be professional in their conduct.

Also present at the inauguration were; Deputy Auditor General, Mr George Swanzy Windful and other Senior Officers of the Ghana Armed Forces.
