UNMISS Ghanbatt 7 in collaboration with UNMISS Mission Support Area, Bentiu (MSA) has renovated and handed over the Bentiu Infectious Disease Centre to the Government of Unity State on Tuesday 11 August, 2020 in Bentiu Town.
The facility which took eight (8) weeks to complete is made up of (8) structures including (2) accommodation units, (3) wards, (1) kitchen, (1) triage unit and a laundry. The facility will serve as an Isolation and Treatment Centre for isolated Covid-19 patients in Bentui.
Prior to the renovation, the facility was left in a deplorable and abandoned state.
The Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Health, Mr Peter Koang Chuol who represented the Governor of the Unity State during the handing over of the facility expressed his excitement on the completion of the project.
He commended Ghanbatt 7 and other humanitarian partners like UNICEF, Concern World Wide, WHO, UNOCHA, RRC, RRP for exhibiting maximum commitment on the renovation of the project more importantly placing Internally Displaced Person’s (IDP’s) at Protection of Civilians (PoC) site safe from Covid-19 pandemic.
The Minister urged all and sundry to continue to observe the Covid-19 safety protocols.
