The Western Naval Command (WNC) has organised blood donation exercise at the Secondi Naval Base to support the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital on Thursday, 14 May 2020.
The blood donation exercise was necessitated by an urgent request from the hospital for assistance to restock its dwindling Blood Bank.
According to the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command; Commodore Emmanuel Kwafo said the Command responded swiftly and organised the voluntary blood donation exercise to support the hospital as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The FOC indicated that about 200 personnel were earmarked to participate in the voluntary exercise to donate blood to augment the Blood Bank at the Effia Nkwanta Hospital.
In an interview with the Organizer of Blood Donations at the hospital, Mr Emmanuel Essien emphasised that the blood bank had run out of blood due to the huge numbers of patients who patronised the hospital. To that effect, a request was sent to WNC.
Mr Emmanuel Essien expressed gratitude to the FOC and personnel for responding positively to their request. He assured that the blood would enable the hospital to treat patients who required blood transfusion.
