Standard Protocols/re-opening plan for senior and Junior High Schools in all Garrisons

General

1.            These protocols below are to indicate further measures to be followed in addition to the already announced protocols to be observed by all schools in the garrisons upon re-opening.

Senior High schools (SHS) Re-Opening

2.            Senior High Schools must ensure these protocols/reopening plans are observed:

Schools to be reopened on Monday 22 June 2020 for Final Year Students (SHS 3) and SHS 2 Gold Track only.

Six weeks of academic work then five weeks for WASSCE.

All classed to be split-not more than 25 students in a class.

All day students to be admitted in Boarding in Schools.

Day schools must have enhanced daily health protocols.

Dining to be in batches in boarding schools.

No visitors should be allowed.

Schools should be unavailable for religious activities.

There must be no sports for sporting events

Sick bay attendants should be trained on how to handle COVID-19 patients.

Junior High Schools (JHS) Re-opening

3.            Junior high Schools must ensure these protocols/re-opening plans are observed:

Schools to be re-opening on Monday 29 June 2020 for Final Year Students (JHS 3) only.

Eleven weeks of academic work then one week for BECE.

All classes to be split – not more than 30 students in a class.

Classed to be held from 0900 to 1300 hrs each day (Reduced School Day)

No break outside the classroom.

Schools will have enhanced daily health protocols.

Schools should be unavailable for religious activities.

There must be no sports or sporting events.

Sick bay attendants should be trained on how to handle COVID-19 patients.

All students must be educated on COVID-19 Pandemic.
