The 1 Signal Regiment has on Thursday 11 June 2020 commissioned a newly constructed restroom for soldiers who perform duties at the Ecobank and GCB general area in Burma Camp.

The project was made possible by undisclosed cash donations from GCB and Ecobank branches in Burma Camp with Interplast Ghana  and Nana Antwi Darkwah respectively donating plastic T&J for the ceiling and electrical cables for the wiring of the restroom among others.

The Director-General (DG), Department of Communication and Information Systems (DCIS), Brig Gen Matthew Essien, who was the Guest of Honour commended the Commanding Officer of the Regiment for dedicating resources to the facility amidst daunting challenges facing the Regiment. He also acknowledged the support of the various companies and individuals who contributed in diverse ways towards the project.

Additionally, Brig Gen Essien rendered special appreciation to GCB and Ecobank for increasing their annual contribution to the Unit for providing security for the area.

The Commanding Officer of the Regiment, Lt Col Mustapha Abass thanked personnel of his Unit for their selfless dedication to duty. He added that, the facility would help ease the stress on guards who are not on sentry to rest and refresh in order to remain alert when they change sentry.  He admonished the guards to take good care of the facility in order to serve its purpose.
