CDS Awards Best Writers for 2019 Prize Essay Competition

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lt Gen Obed Boamah Akwa has awarded Lt Col George Noble Kwaku Hoenyedzi and POI Ahiagbah Frank Kormla for coming up tops in the 2019 prize essay competition. The ceremony took place at the Command Mess Hall in Burma Camp, on Tuesday 9 June, 2020.

In his opening remarks, the Deputy Director General Training Col Winfred Dzandu –Hedidor, disclosed that, the annual CDS Prize Essay Competition was organised in last year 2019 and those who placed second and third positions had duly received awards on 24 December, 2019 during the CDS end of year party for Officers.

He continued that, the overall best winners for the Officers and the Other Rank category which were to be presented with their awards during the GHQ annual West Africa Soldiers Social Activities (WASSA), in March was disrupted by general COVID-19 and in view of that at the behest of the CDS, winners received their prizes today.

On behalf of the Military high Command, the CDS presented a set of 55” Samsung led TV each to Lt Col GNK Hoenyedzi and POI Ahiagbah Frank and congratulated them for their effort and urged them to keep it up.

Lt Col GNK Hoenyedzi wrote on An Assessment of the viability of the Ghana Armed Forces Provident Fund and Suggestions on Ways of improving its Operations in order to become beneficial to contributors whiles POI Ahiagbah also wrote on the Causes and Effects of Drug Abuse and the Use of Narcotics on the Ghanaian Youth and Society.
