The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lt Gen Obed Boamah Akwa has visited the home of the Late Brig Gen IGMK Kpeto (Rtd) to commensurate with the family at his residence on Friday 29 May 2020.
The visit was for the CDS to express his, and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) deepest condolences to the family and to assure them of the support of the Armed Forces. The CDS remarked that the Armed Forces and the nation had lost some of its distinguished Generals who served the colours with dignity and respect of which Gen Kpeto was no exception.
He added that, GAF would collaborate with the family to give the Late Gen Kpeto a befitting burial to honour him as per the traditions of GAF at the appointed time. Lt Gen Akwa gave an undisclosed amount of money and boxes of bottled water to the bereaved family to help them in their planning and preparation towards the funeral.
The family was grateful to the CDS and the entire Ghana Armed Forces for their sympathy. The CDS signed the book of condolence on behalf of himself and the Armed Forces.
The Late Brig Gen Kpeto served the Ghana Armed Forces in different capacities and appointments, these included; Commanding Officer 2 Battalion of Infantry, Director Directorate of Public Relations (DPR), General Headquarters, Director Personnel Administration (PA), General Headquarters, Commandant Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) and Commandant Military Academy and Training Schools (MATS).
The CDS was accompanied by the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), AVM Frank Hanson, the Chief of Staff (COS) Rear Adm IA Yakubu, Air Cdre Appiah Agyekum (DG PA), Cdre Benson (CSO) Navy Headquarters and Col Aggrey Quashie (Director DPR).
