The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lt Gen OB Akwa has on Monday 20 April, 2020 honoured 3 Directors-General formerly at the general headquarters (GHQ) for their industrious contribution to the armed forces at the Command Mess in Burma Camp, Accra.
The officers who had taken up other official portfolios in the Ghana Armed Forces included the former Director-General (DG) Personal Administration, Maj Gen Charles KA Awity, now Commandant, Military Academy and Training Schools (MATS), the former DG Training and Acting Chief of Staff, Cdre Samuel Angmor, now attached to the Electricity Company of Ghana and former DG Inspector General Department (IGD); currently, the Deputy Commandant, Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College.
The CDS in his address congratulated the very senior Officers for their enormous contribution and additions to the successes of the GAF. He added that he was confident the Generals would deliver significantly at their current appointments.
He lauded the role of GAF in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that the C-in-C is indebted to Ghana Armed Forces for the role it is playing during these hard times. He further encouraged Commanders of GAF to brace themselves up for additional task at all levels of their duties. He entreated all and sundry to critically observe all the various safety protocols whilst discharging their constitutional mandated duties.
Maj Gen Awity who spoke on behalf of the 3 Generals applauded the support given them by the Military High Command. He revealed that their inspirations were drawn from the mentorship of both past and present Service Chiefs of the GAF.
