Brig Gen Agbeka Ends 32 Years of Dedicated Service to GAFMs

16 May 2019.    A send-off ceremony was held for the Commander, of the Kumasi Military Hospital, Brig Gen Christopher Agbeka on Thursday, 16 May 2019 at the 37 Military Hospital Officers’ Mess in Accra.

The send-off ceremony was to commend and appreciate the services he rendered to the Ghana Armed Forces Medical Services (GAFMS) and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) for thirty-two (32) years.  It was also to honour him for his immense contribution to the Medical Corps, especially, the gynecological division.

Brig Gen Agbeka was enlisted into the GAFMS on February 1987 and was commissioned into the service after a successful training at the Ghana Military Academy (GMA) Teshie.  Until his retirement in May 2019, he was the Commander, Kumasi Military Hospital.  During his thirty two years of dedicated service to the GAFMS, he went on various peacekeeping operations such as UNIFIL, UNOCI among others.

He was eulogized by the Director General, GAFMS Brig Gen Ernest Crosby Saka (Jr) and Commander of the 37 Military Hospital Brig Gen Micheal Akwasi Yeboah Agyapong.  He was also extolled by past Commanding Officers of the Hospital, some Senior Officers, secondary school mates and family members.

Brig Gen Agbeka thanked everyone for working with him during his stay at the 37 military Hospital and the GAFMS.

A citation was read on his behalf together with a presentation of a plaque. A cake was also cut on his behalf.  He was also given a 32 LED flat screen colour television and a shopping coupon with an unspecified amount to purchase whatever de desired at Orca Décor Furniture Limited.  The marketing Manager of Royal Senchi Hotel, Akosombo Mr Emmanuel Mensah also gave him a special package.

Present at the ceremony were some Senior Officers of the facility, both serving and retired.
