The Signal Training School (STS) has taken delivery of a borehole sponsored and constructed by ‘Kelly for You Foundation’; a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) founded by Ex Cpl Osman Kelly Alhassan a former instructor at STS.
The project which cost GH 15,000 and was constructed within eight weeks was handed over to the school on Wednesday 26 February 2020 will serve as a reservoir to augment the water supply to the school.
The founder of the NGO, Ex Cpl Alhassan said he and his NGO chose to undertake the project because he was once an instructor of the school and was therefore aware of the water challenges the school was faced with. He added that the foundation believed in service to humanity, the reason for which it embarked on the project to enhance the water supply at STS. He was hopeful the project would go a long way to address the water shortage at the school and urged all to commit to maintaining the borehole to serve its utmost purpose.
The Director General, Defence Communication and Information Systems, Brig Gen Matthew Essien said it was appropriate for a borehole to have been dug within the confines of the school to provide water for students and staff. He thanked Kelly Foundation and STS for the success of the project and urged STS to work at maintaining the borehole so it served its purpose.
The Commanding Officer (CO) of the Signal Training School, Lt Col Peter Abban in his remarks, expressed appreciation to the CEO of ‘Kelly for You Foundation’ and his team for adding value to the school by helping build the borehole. He proposed the school build an enduring partnership with the foundation leading to future successes.
