The Director General of Hungarian Military National Security Services (HMNSS), Lieutenant General Jonas Beres has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence (CDS), Lt Gen Obed Boamah Akwa at the General Headquarters on Wednesday, 26 February, 2020.
The visit was aimed at deepening the existing bilateral military relations between Ghana and Hungary as well as to discuss other ways of supporting the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in the area of defence intelligence gathering.
The Chief of Defence Intelligence (DI), Major General Peter Nicholas Andoh who briefed the CDS on the visit, said the Hungary Armed Forces was undergoing a major restructuring and modernization hence the need to tap from Ghana’s experience. He added that Lt Gen Jonas Beres was an expert in counter-terrorism and GAF was ready to tap from his experience to enable it combat all forms of terrorism especially within the West African sub-region.
The CDS expressed his profound gratitude to the Director General HMNSS for his visit and the continuous support of the Hungarian Government in the areas of training and defence intelligence gathering.
Lt Gen Jonas Beres on his part thanked the CDS and the Military High Command for the warm reception given him and pledged his country’s continuous support to the GAF and the government of Ghana.
