The Retired Commissioned Officers’ Association (RCOA) has on Sunday 9 February, 2020 organised its 14th Annual thanksgiving service and outdooring of RCOA cloth at the RCOA Club House in Accra.
The Guest of Honour and immediate past Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Air Marshal Michael Samson-Oje, in his speech challenged the executive committee of RCOA to work around the clock to ensure that they served as a reliable “THINK TANK” on national security issues.
He noted that their depth of knowledge was not on retirement despite the fact that they were not in active service. He said it would not only offer them the opportunity to table their views on national security issues, but project the Association on a national platform.
He urged members to remain united and use the experience gained in Peace Keeping to ensure peace and stability in the country, since the country was heading toward a general elections. He therefore advised them to practice healthy habits by exercising regularly and undergoing routine medical checkups.
Delivering his sermon, under the theme “Trust in God always” the preacher, Very Rev Cdr FH Gbewonyo encouraged members to trust, believe, honour God and not to cherish material things.
In the Muslim exhortation Sheikh Lt Col SS Adam, on the theme “God never fails,” charged members to be humble, faithful, merciful, and trustworthy and believe in God.
As part of the programme, executive members were rededicated and there was an outdooring of RCOA cloth. The Guest of Honour also donated musical instruments to the Association.
Present at the service were the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mpraeso and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Interior, Hon Seth Acheampong, Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lt Gen OB Akwa, National Security Adviser, Brig Gen Okyere (Rtd).
